The Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) Scheme will be officially effective from January 2023. ILOE is a form of scheme for social security. ILOE will provide the workers with 3 months of compensation in case they lose their jobs.

The scheme is launched for all types of workers in the UAE. It caters to all public as well as private sector employees, workers, and the labor force. All the workers should be enrolled in the scheme till October 2023. 

However, to facilitate the workers the dates are extended to allow more time to sign up. The compensation is calculated at approximately 60 percent of the employee’s salary.

Removal of 10 days grace period:

As per the new law, now the visitors and tourists will not be given 10 days grace time after the expired Dubai tourist visa. It was also used to be provided as 30 days before. Dubai tourist visa is issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, and Customs and Port Security (ICP). 

In the past, the tourists were allowed a 10-day grace period if their visa expired. They can stay for those 10 extra days in Dubai. Now, an overstay fine is charged. Now the grace period has been removed hefty fines are imposed for overstay. Therefore, anyone who overstays in Dubai needs to quickly pay AED 50 per day. 

Removal of taxes on alcohol:

There is a removal of 30 percent taxes on all alcohol purchases. In the year 2023, this can be effective. Now the liquor stores can reduce the prices of their products which will enable customers to purchase them from them.

Moreover, now the alcohol licenses are available for free. In the year 2023, anyone can obtain liquor licensing by submitting their Emirates ID for residents, or passport for tourists.
